[Jun. 11th, 2006|06:07 pm] |
London. Been here since Thursday and I think I've just managed to get over the jet lag. It was truly horrible. I completely lost my appetite and couldn't sleep and just generally felt crap. Last night armed with some serious ear plugs and lots of herbal sleeping pills I managed to have a full decent nights sleep. I feel so much better!
Woke up early today and ended up having a great day. Got the tube to Covent Garden but was too early for all the shops... (what's with shops opening at 12 on sundays?) so walked around then headed to trafalgar square and ended up in st james gardens and laughed at the pommies sunbaking in a park (seriously there were deck chairs and swimming costumes). Then I went to Tate Modern... fuck it was great. I just realised that I've never been to a gallery by myslef before, so much better than doing it with others. You can go at your own pace.
Then this afternoon I went to Camden markets to meet Marty. Too much to take in and we were chatting the whole time so will have to go back to shop when I have more time. We then had a Pimms at a cool cool cool pub where they have All Tomorrow's parties nights (when we were there they played simon and garfunkel and elliott smith on the stereo!). Then Marty and I got the bus to Oxford st to change some stuff in Topshop for him and just have a look around. I'm buggered but had a great day. Best day so far.
Tomorrow I'm going to stay with Rich and Becky (cousin and his wife) and hopefully watch the first Australia world cup match somewhere.
I'll post more soon. Miss Australia already! |

| 5 weeks to go! |
[Apr. 29th, 2006|02:36 pm] |
Arrrrgh! I leave the country in 5 weeks! I still can't beleive I'm doing it, it seems so surreal, I feel like I'm planning someone else's trip.
Today mum and I went to Chatswood and she bought me some Birkenstocks like this. Now I feel like a real traveller. Also bought a funky red leather I-pod case and some undies and a new Bonds hoodie. Still so much stuff to organise, but I finally feel like i'm getting there.
So, I'm going to be in London for a week. 4 days stayig in a hostel and hopefully 3 days crashing with my cousin and his wife. I'm looking forward to just wandering around London, going to galleries, markets, shops, parks and doing stuff I didn't get to do last time I was there. There are a few clubs I want to check out too so hopefully I can fit it all in.
Then on the 15th of June we (Mon, Sarah and I) fly to Dublin to begin our Irish adventure. I just sent off my visa application last week so hopefully that comes back quickly. I'm looking forward to having and Irish stew and a guinness in a pub with locals who I can't understand a word of.
Still have to organise travel insurance... luckily Phil has offered to pay for that. Score.
Anyway, my planning continues. I'm not doing anything tonight just going to stay in, save money and think about all the fun I'll have overseas... ahh.

| So I bit the bullet |
[Apr. 4th, 2006|10:10 pm] |
I bought my ticket!!! Ahhhhhhh!
I'm leaving on the 7th June, flying to London with Korean Airlines, one night stopover in Seoul.
Staying in London til the 15th June then flying to Dublin with Monique.
Whoah! Exciting but scary.
Freaking out about money and finding a job but I'm sure I'll manage, just have to jump in the deep end. |

| So long |
[Mar. 11th, 2006|04:05 pm] |
I haven't updated in ages.
So I went to Byron Bay for a week and it was the best holiday ever. We were pretty much stoned the whole time. It was sooooo relaxing waking up and lying by the pool and then having a drink and playing board games. Some highlights include Amelia, Adrian and I having a glitter shower (yes, it WAS a glitter shower! we saw it with our own eyes!) and visiting Nimbin. Joel said that Nimbin was "the grossest town he's ever been to". Ha!
Anyway, since I've been back I've been working a lot and saving my moola.
Will post Byron pics when I can be bothered

| Back home |
[Jan. 21st, 2006|09:28 pm] |
So I'm back at home after a lovely two weeks house sitting in Newtown. I seriously didn't want to come home. It was so nice just being able to walk home after having a drink or dinner on King St, and there is so much great shopping. Ahh... I definitely have a taste for that area now. As soon as I can manage after I come home from O/S I will be moving out.
I have decided that I want to learn how to play the drums. More research will be conducted into this soon.
I've been working at the library lots. I had a stalker one day but apart from that it's been great.
I went to STA the other day and had a chat with a guy about my trip... I'm getting excited and am thinking about booking my ticket soon.
Big Day Out less than a week away. So psyched. Liv is coming too so we are going to run around like mad women all day seeing lots of great music. Pumped about seeing the Go! Team again.
Anyway, just a quick update. Can't be arsed with everything else. |

I got a sexy new phone like this yesterday. I don't even know how to use it but it was free and I'm on a better contract now so... yay!
I'm house sitting in Newtown with Beth for the next 2 weeks. I'm sure I'll be home at some point but I'll be there most of the time. I have a feeling that i'll get a taste for living out of home and never want to come back. Beth and I might just decide to take over the house and change the locks... watch out lady!
Erm... that's it. I'm working tomorrow at 9am which is gonna suck. I haven't been getting up any earlier than 10:30 recently. Damn.
P.S. We got Foxtel digital... bring on VH1! |

| TAFE results |
[Jan. 5th, 2006|11:29 am] |
So I just got my TAFE results and once again I kicked ass. My academic transcript is flawless! All distinctions or pass (ungraded). Gotta love TAFE and the easiness of it.
In other news I have been selling my stuff on Ebay. Some sucker bought my old sportsgirl jeans for $31! Ha! |

| Field Day... |
[Jan. 2nd, 2006|07:41 pm] |
|
So, yesterday, on the hottest day in Sydney in 70 years or something ridiculous I popped my Field Day cherry. 45 degree heat didn't stop me from having a great time.
We got there at about 1:30 and promptly bought ourselves big fuck-off bottles of water. Found Cathy and a group of her boyfriend's friend's and parked our asses on the grass in the shade. It was a great spot, we had a perfect view of the main stage without having to leave the shade. We ate lots of calipoes, took many trips to the "mist tunnel" and got very munted and stayed that way aaaaaall day (I think that's mainly what helped us deal with the heat, how I don't know).
It was great having Cath there as well as Beth and everyone, good mix of groups and everyone mingled well. The southerly change came through as Bob Sinclar was playing and you could hear sighs of relief in the crowd as the massive gusts of wind came over. Unfortunately the wind caused one of the tents to blow over which meant Krafty Kuts played the main stage to close. Then in a very weird/confusing ending they had Kiss come out on stage and play "I was made for loving you"... The thing is, no one knows if it really was them or not. In our smashed state we spent ages discussing whether or not it actually was Kiss or a cover band. I still can't work it out. Way to confuse a whole lot of smashed people Fuzzy!
Anyway, after it ended I went on with Cathy and Cam to various friends places chatting, drinking beer and listening to music. At some random people's house in Bondi they played Phoenix on their stereo which made me happy. I got home at about 6am and surprisingly slept until about 11. The rest of the day has been taken up with watching Will & Grace on Arena and just generally mooching around the house.
P.S. I took some photos at Field Day... here are some highlights

| Planning... |
[Dec. 28th, 2005|10:00 pm] |
|
I've decided that when A gets back (this isn't until late February) we should go out for a really nice meal. Go all out! Dress up, order expensive bottles of wine and three whole courses. Obviously he thinks this is a great idea. I really miss having him here to have good meals with.
He's almost as big a foodie as I am and I don't think anyone quite compares. So now I have set about deciding where we should go cause I'm extited. So far these are our options:
Now the wait is on until he returns... I'm sure I'll change my mind before then

| Xmas eve |
[Dec. 24th, 2005|10:57 pm] |
| [ | Current Mood |
| | blah | ] | Xmas eve doesn't feel like Xmas eve. I woke up incredibly hungover and my day never really recovered.
Last night I went to Beth's work drinks and drank lots of vino. We then got into a cab and headed off to the Presets at the Gaelic Club. Got a bit silly and met some funny 17 year old guy who kept asking if we had some more 'pingers' haha. Presets were very fun. One of the guys was dressed as Santa, love the Xmas spirit! We danced like crazy mofos at the back and talked crap to strangers as per usual. We then hopped in another cab and jetted over to Purple Sneakers where we bumped into Sarah and Chris and all his mates. Oh the fun that we had... dancing and drinking and pouring water over each other! Oh so fun. Beth had a ball as well, we're so glad we're going there for NYE.
Got home at about 5, slept til 1 (with a wake up in between to take pain killers). When I finally got out of bed my memories started coming back from last night.... I was WAY more wasted than I thought! And now I'm chatting to Chris and he's got all these photos that were taken last night on his mobile that I have no recollection of. Welll... I guess that's the indication of a good night.
So, Xmas tomorrow. I'm not really looking forward to it. I wish I could have Xmas with another (non-dysfunctional) family. Ah well, I'll have fun cooking with Mum.
Merry Xmas everyone! |

| Blubbering! |
[Dec. 22nd, 2005|11:11 pm] |
So I said bye to Moni tonight until I go over and meet her. I didn't think I'd be so upset but we both cracked and burst into tears. It was all very emotional (a little too emotional for Town Hall station)
This is all the more motivation I need to get my ass over to Ireland to meet her in June! I can do it! |

Xmas/Summer/Party season is upon us and for once I'm getting organised early!
Friday night I'm going to some Xmas work drinks with Beth ($20 for all the booze and food you want!) then we're going to go and check out the Presets at the Gaelic Club. And we've just decided that we probably will do Purple Sneakers for NYE which should be nice and fun and chilled. Of course we have Field Day the next day so we're gonna be all "party party party" like the girls in Muriel's Wedding. |

Ahhhh so many drunken injuries in my time but this has to take the cake

Yes. Those are all bruises I sustained when I fell down the stairs TWICE on Saturday night. Ouchy. That's all I'm gonna say. |

So I have finished work. No more high school for me! Yay. Down with those snotty girls!
Now I am offically a bum again. I have two casual jobs which may give me work but also may not... I am not entirely opposed to not working right now. I intend on watching a lot of daytime tele and waering my pajamas for the majority of the day.
Beth and I are going to go to a swish restaurant in January to say 'merry xmas and a happy new year' to each other. We are thinking of going to Wildfire. It is expensive but looks oh so lovely. I will ask the waiter to suggest us some wine to go with our meals. Eeeeexcellent.
Hmmm.... I am in a bizarrely good mood. Surely this can't last. |

| | restless | ] |
So i've had about 3 hours broken sleep and here I am updating. How's that for dedication huh!?
Homebake was awesome. Ben Lee, Wolfmother (or Wolfmotherfucker as we preferred calling them) and the Finn Brothers of course were my highlights. In a total nerd alert moment I bumped into c0sm0naut and we recognised each other! (Hope you had a rad day too Sean).
Went to Spectrum after and danced til 3:30, had some crazy lines of somethingorother, somehow ended up at Arq on Taylor Square dancing like the fag hag I am. Chris and I then crashed at Tim's house for a bit before got a cab home at 8am. My feet were caked in dirt but I still had a fucken smile on my face.
So much for a self control... |
